a huge time saver

Save a whole day

There are many applications we are finding that the crawler can be used for and believe that this product is a huge time saver. We have trialled the crawler against the old roof ladder system and our workers are a whole day faster on an average villa. The pay back on the product is under two roofs working on a crew averaging $750+ gst a day.

Safety at Heights law

Roof Crawler, when used in a situation where money is being paid to do the job (as in Roofing), must be used in conjunction with scaffolds or edge protection to the Safety at Heights laws.

Step 1

To install the crawler to the roof the keyhole hanger is fitted over a loosened screw and slipped down onto the shank of the screw. The screw is then tightened to just touch the hanger. The roof crawler’s hangers are designed to fit profiles that have a 710 to 760 cover. We do have the ability to supply longer crawlers for wider profiles. The user should not step on the outside of the hangers as this could cause the crawler to tilt and the key hole to pop out!!!!

Step 2

We recommend that the screw be embedded into timber purlins at least 35 mm of thread. For steel purlins this needs to be three complete threads through the purlin. New screws must be used with each application to a roof. When taking out the crawler put the matching colour screw in the hole that is left.

step 3

The crawler can be place anywhere there is a purlin which allows greater access around valleys, ridges, dormers and Dutch gables for example.

Step 4

The roof crawlers have attachments that can be used for tying off ladders, use of a harness in a fall arrest situation(cannot be used if a person can fall off the edge of a roof and a free fall will occur) so temporary work, inspection or measuring a roof can be completed safely. There is a step attachment that can be used where purlins are spaced too far to make stepping from one to another too hard. Finally a tool holder attachment and a scaffold plank holder are available.

More than steep roofs

It doesn’t need to be only steep roofs it allows workers to fit ridges and screw off in rain drizzle or morning dew on any pitched roof.

There is a protective barrier on the crawler to stop scraping and scratching of colorsteel or colorcote product when used correctly.
